Savusaunakirja – Risto Vuolle-Apiala

Savusaunakirja is a Finnish guide to the traditional savusauna, or smoke sauna, written by architect and sauna specialist Risto Vuolle-Apiala. First published in 1983, the book documents the construction traditions behind one of Finland's oldest forms of sauna, combining practical building knowledge with an appreciation of vernacular Finnish architecture.

Through photographs, drawings and plans, Vuolle-Apiala examines traditional smoke-sauna types, their structures and stoves, as well as the restoration of older saunas. The book became a long-running reference on the subject and was expanded through numerous later editions.
