Published in 1977, Finland Creates explores the relationship between Finland's natural landscape and its distinctive approach to design, architecture and art. The book was created by American photographer Jack Fields and Australian photographer David Moore, who travelled through Finland looking at the environment and creative culture from an outsider's perspective.
Their photography draws visual connections between Finnish nature, materials, architecture, objects and artistic practice. The photographs are accompanied by a text by Finnish writer and design critic Pekka Suhonen, examining the development of Finnish creativity and the conditions that shaped the country's internationally recognised design culture.
